BLUE SUN CACM — A Vital Platform for Contemporary Art in Mongolia

In recent years, one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking spaces in Mongolia’s contemporary art scene has emerged through the initiative of the Blue Sun Contemporary Art Center: Khukh Nar - CAB Art Space.

More than just a venue for exhibitions, it functions as a living laboratory; an environment where experimentation, collaboration, and new artistic languages can take shape.

While Mongolia has seen various galleries and institutions develop over time, this space distinguishes itself through its interdisciplinary openness and commitment to artistic risk-taking. Visual art intersects here with performance, sound, poetry, movement, and new media, creating a fluid space where boundaries between disciplines dissolve and new forms of expression emerge.

Recent programs and events hosted at the space include:

  • Performance art evenings and live interventions

  • Experimental sound and electronic music sessions

  • Poetry readings and spoken word gatherings

  • Collaborative workshops and international art camps

  • Conceptual and new media exhibitions

These initiatives not only offer audiences immersive and unconventional experiences, but also provide artists with the rare opportunity to test ideas, push limits, and develop independent voices.

For Mongolian artists, Khukh Nar - Cab Art Space serves as:

  • A stepping stone toward international visibility

  • A free and supportive environment for experimentation

  • A hub for collaboration and community building

For international visitors; curators, researchers, and art enthusiasts; it offers:

  • A direct and authentic encounter with Mongolia’s contemporary art scene

  • Opportunities to connect with local artists and initiatives

  • A platform for cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration

Importantly, the CAB Space operates as an open and welcoming platform. Artists, thinkers, and cultural practitioners with new ideas or experimental projects are encouraged to engage and collaborate.

In this sense, the CAB Space is not simply an art space. It is an evolving ecosystem shaping the future of contemporary art in Mongolia; a place where local and global perspectives meet, and where new artistic possibilities are continuously being imagined.
